Hello friends of SC2Links!
49,000+ sessions, 12,500+ unique users, and 138,000+ page views – what an absolutely incredible February!
You guys broke our monthly session record by 5,000+ views and did so in a month where we implemented an anti-adblock mechanism to boot.
Was I initially worried that driving away adblock users from the site would decrease our user base? Yes. Do I still harbor those fears? Absolutely not!
Simply put, the site was not making any money. Have we resolved that issue? Not entirely, but if we continue to have months like February I believe we will raise enough funds in a few months to implement site features that we’ve wanted for a long time, namely:
-A rating system for VOD listings
-Better responsive design on mobile and tablets
-Fixing our mobile apps so that they work again
Those are the top three priorities, in order, that I have for improving the site this year. Your support of our initiative to raise money off of ads and donations alone will make these changes possible – every single one of your continued visits to SC2Links supports it’s existence!
As always, I can’t thank each and every one of you enough. I know for sure that the site is helping me stay up to date on what’s going on in the Starcraft 2 scene, but more importantly, after going 3-7 on the NA Diamond ladder (and now I’m just plat) I know for sure I will be watching more and more VODs to try and figure out how to be a better gamer!! Alright enough personal embarrassment for one post – on to the statistics!
-18.76% of sessions (~9000) are from new users (We’ve been around since June, 2012! Help spread the word about SC2Links and connect more people with Legacy of the Void!)
-Users from 116 different countries used the site (up 13 from January)
-Top 5 countries by session: USA, Canada, Germany, UK, Sweden (Australia, France, Netherlands, Poland, and Demark round out the top 10 again)
-71.73% of sessions are 25-34 year olds, 22.28% of sessions are 18-24 year olds, .08% of sessions are 65+ year olds (thanks dad!)
-Top tournaments by pageviews: GSL (16.2%), Starleague (9.8%), Proleague (9.1%), IEM (2.78%)
That’s all I’ve got for now – look for a post detailing some terran build orders and associated VODs in the next few weeks. I’ll even try to help out my zerg and protoss friends if I find enough time – I know I’m not the only one who feels lost out there on the ladder!
